Key facts
- The business trades as DNA Labs India from a corporate office at Prashanthi Arcade, Amberpet, Hyderabad 500013, Telangana; the ISO certificate names it M/S. DNA Labs India, which points to a firm rather than an incorporated company, and no CIN or GST number is published.
- The lab says it was established in 2015 and claims 448 collection centres in 28 states, branch addresses in nine other cities including Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore, and more than 50,000 samples processed; a third party directory instead gives 2007.
- PRNP NGS test pages exist for Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, fatal familial insomnia and Gerstmann-Straussler disease, each priced at INR 20,000 including home collection and report, with a 3 to 4 week turnaround.
- Accepted samples are blood, extracted DNA or a dried blood spot on an FTA card; home collection is said to cover 300+ cities and walk in and outstation samples are accepted.
- The CJD page says a genetic counselling session is required to draw a pedigree before testing, while the FFI page calls counselling recommended and the GSS page is internally inconsistent (recommended in the collection step, but its patient instructions say to complete a session before the test); who provides it and with what training is not stated.
- The GSS page names NGS with Sanger confirmation of positive variants and says NGS may miss large deletions, duplications, repeat expansions and deep intronic variants; none of the pages mention PRNP octapeptide repeat insertions.
- NCBI GTR lists four DNA Labs India PRNP records (605027 CJD, 604877 FFI, 605814 GSS and 605334 Huntington disease-like 1), all NGS of the entire coding region on peripheral blood, performed in house, with an empty certifications field.
- GTR names the lab director as Ravi Kiran Reddy P, PhD; the website names consulting clinicians by specialty but no founder or chief executive.
- The lab's GTR footprint is a very large templated catalogue, with 3,578 records matching its name, and its PRNP records sit in the same registry result set as Blueprint, Fulgent, Labcorp and CeGaT.
- The only certification shown is ISO 9001:2015 certificate IN125044A from LMS Certifications under EIAC, first registered 2 July 2026 and due for surveillance by 1 July 2027, scoped to collection and testing of clinical samples and report delivery; this is a quality management standard, not a laboratory competence accreditation.
- No NABL, ISO 15189, ICMR or CAP accreditation is claimed on the home, about, contact or test pages, and the NABL public lab search returned an error on 2026-10-16, so NABL status is unknown.
- The terms of service, effective 15 September 2026, say the business does not provide medical diagnoses and that reports must be interpreted by a registered medical practitioner; no page states whether a prescription is needed to order.
